It is hay fever season!
The hay fever season is well under way, with millions of people set to suffer with itchy, streaming eyes, blocked nose, sneezing and other symptoms over the spring and summer months.
If you're a sufferer, NHS Choice offers an online clinic on hay fever and environmental allergies. Doctors specialising in hay fever and other environmental allergies are available to answer your questions on issues such as hay fever triggers, controlling symptoms, treatment options and childhood allergies.

Changes to prescription costs
Prescription prepayment certificates (PPC) are available in England and they can save you money.
Prescription costs as of April 1 2012:
• The current prescription charge is £7.65 (£15.30 per pair of elastic hosiery).
• A 3 monthly PPC is £29.10. This saves you money if you need 4 or more items in 3 months.
• A 12 month certificate is £104.00 and saves money if 15 or more items are needed in 12 months.
PPCs are available by 10 monthly direct debit instalment payments. The prescription prepayment certificates allow anyone to obtain all the prescriptions they need for £2 per week.

Patients miss over 16m appointments each year
Patients miss over 11m GP appointments and 5m practice nurse appointments each year in the UK, a survey suggests. The poll, by Developing Patient Partnerships, found even offering same day appointments was often not enough to solve the problem. London had the worse problem, followed by the North West of England, and the West Midlands. Most of the 329 GP surgeries who took part said missed appointments caused them problems.
